This is a project on a jewelry box I didn't get to finish but it's supposed to be a giant box with jewelry inside.

This is artwork from the famous Pablo Picasso, I chose "Dora maar au chat" because I liked the unique design that he had. This painting was made in 1941, It is a oil painting. " Portrait of Dora Maar, 1941, Dora Maar is represented majestically seated in an armchair, smiling and resting her head on a long-fingered hand. The face is shown in a combined frontal and profile view, with a red eye and a green eye facing in different directions" she was a woman in Picasso's life. ( pablopicasso.org). Picasso's painting's are abstract especially the portraits I think that has more depth when painting.


The similarities of all his artwork.. are that they are abstract portraits some just figures. The colors are cool colors mostly I see blue in this painting. The direction that the "Dora maar" is faced like looking forward. The face of the woman looks like she has two faces. I believe the qualities of this work is actually quite good I think its the use of the oil and the different figures that makes it all come together.


Through the "Dora Maar" I believe he's trying to express his love forsince they had a relationship of some kind.. I believe this is a great painting its definitely different than his other paintings.. I really like this for the color and vibration. symbolism is used. the way he seated her in the chair like she's a queen and the hat makes it look like she's a queen and that's her crown.. in all I think he's trying to symbolize a queen at her throne.


I think this is a great painting all the elements are in hand and all the things that a great painting should do or need is right at hand for him. I think all of the symbolization makes since because on this website : totallyhistory.com it says "she was very well-known, as well as her involvement in the surrealist movement." that is something that should be known especially because she was used to sitting and looking like a queen. It also said she was his personal model for about 10 years.

I don't even know what I was trying to do I just did something. I don't really like it if I had the chance I would redo it.

this piece is based upon an old ancient piece that I created I really took my time on this one.
